Data Processor

Definition:

Any natural or legal person, agency or other body that processes personal data on behalf of the Data Controller

Commentary:

In some jurisdictions, there is no distinction between Data processor and Data Controller and/or other terminology is adopted as an alternative, e.g. service provider, entrusted party, or other. In most jurisdictions, the term covers both private and public sectors, but beware of the rare case of limited application on public sector in isolated jurisdiction.
