System of Origin (SOO)
Definition:
Any application or repository where data is initially captured.
Commentary:
A system of origin is the point at which information has been introduced, without validation or remediation, into the organization. If the system of origin is considered valid without reconciliation, then the system of origin could also be classified as the system of record.
