Taxonomy
Definition:
An orderly classification of things or concepts into parent-child relationships.
Commentary:
A data taxonomy is critical to establishing common organization of data across an enterprise and is required to ensure data is fit-for-purpose.
Taxonomies are used in data management to organize or classify the following, but are not limited to:
– Data modeling
– Glossaries
– Metadata
– Domain registry
– Data stores
– Data flows
